State aid round table held in Mostar gathered state aid donors and decision makers

Within the project „Implementation of the BH Law on state aid and better distribution of grants“ which is financed by United States Embassy in BiH, Centre for Policy and Governance (CPU) organized third round table „Reforming and modernizing the state aid to encourage economic development“ which was held in Mostar. This event gathered representatives of municipalities, cantons, and relevant Federal ministries. Mira Vujeva, deputy chairman of the Council for state aid in BiH and Asja Čengić, executive director of CPU opened the round table.

Bosnia and Herzegovina began the process of state aid system reform, one of the most important commitments in the process of European Union accession. In order to support and improve this process, and to provide insight for experts and general public with state aid system and changes that will follow, the CPU within its project prepared an analysis with comprehensive overview of the state aid system in EU, and recommended basic guidelines and activity policies in BiH. Conclusions and recommendations from this document are the baseline for discussions of officials and experts on the following activities in the process of creating an efficient state aid system.

Miss Martina Šorek from the Croatian Competition Agency, Sector for state support, was the guest of the round table, which presented for participants the experiences of Croatia in the process of the state aid reform which contributed to better understanding of the process that will face the donors of the aid in the following period. On the last of the series of the round tables within the project „Reforming and modernizing the state aid to encourage economic development“ the participants expressed motivation for further meetings, round tables and trainings to share experiences on gathering data that are relevant for the final reports on state aid distribution.
