EU membership is a key strategic goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The process of EU accession and the perspective of EU membership presents a major social and economic development perspective for BiH. The integration process is important by itself. Adoption of European standards in different spheres of society bring major transformation of social and economic relations in any accessing country. Timely fulfilment of EU integration goals and requirements and the effective use of development opportunities available through the accession process present a positive scenario for country development as whole.
CPU is committed to promoting the fulfilment of short-term EU integration objectives – the effective and timely implementation of Stabilization and Association Agreement, European Partnership Agreement. CPU supports economic and social reforms aimed at adoption of European values, acquis communautaire, and various European standards.
Successful integration in the EU depends on an accession country’s ability to effectively use EU accession assistance instruments (pre-accession funds, development loans, and technical assistance). Finally, the European integration process requires two-way interaction between EU and the accession country, such as cooperation, negotiation, promotion and advocacy for suitable solutions. CPU is committed to promoting at the European level the prompt and effective EU integration of BiH and the region as whole.
