The activities of the Governance and Public Administration Unit are primarily focused on the betterment and improvement of the functioning and performance of public administration institutions at central, regional and local levels. CPU is devoted to advocating and promoting core good governance principles and their integration into everyday operations of public administration. We believe that integration of good governance principles into the daily working of public sector institutions is essential for efficient and effective public service delivery, which ensures that citizens receive value for money.
CPU has strong capacities and interest in analysis, monitoring and evaluation and development of social and economic development policies. We advocate for integrated public sector strategic management systems, with sufficient capacities for development and implementation of sound economic and social policies based on principles of sustainability and social inclusion.
Activities of the CPU related to public sector policies are strongly linked with CPU’s efforts and interest in management and development of human resources. Orientation on Human Resources Management, as one of the key factors for a well performing public administration, have directed CPU’s activities towards development of a wide range of training modules aimed at increasing knowledge and skills of civil servants and employees in the areas of good governance, project management, economic development (local and regional development), strategic and policy cycle management, human resources management, public sector procurement, business ethics and budgeting and finance.
