The round table „ROAD TO RECOVERY: Improving the quality of compulsory education in BiH aimed to achieve innovation and creativity“organized by Centre for Policy and Governance in partnership with Open society fund BiH, was held today in Sarajevo. The goal of the round table was to discuss the issues of improving the quality of compulsory education, and priorities in the reforms of education that would lead to achieving innovation and creativity which is, according to the EU, key factor of economic and social development, and competitiveness in modern world.
Furthermore, the participants of the round table opened the next questions: what are the possibilities for improving the quality of education system in BiH? Does the current system, upon completion of education, develop knowledge and abilities with students which enables him to be active member of society, able to contribute to the development of community and individual development? What are necessary steps to put the focus on innovation and creativity in development policies, and by itself through reform of education system, improve the quality and creativity of students?
Representatives of the Federal ministry of education and science, and Ministry for education, science and youth of Canton Sarajevo, presented the means in which it is possible to improve the quality of the education system in BiH, and what are necessary steps to put innovation and creativity in the focus of development policies.
The presentation of the Centre for Policy and Governance will be used as a starting point for the discussion of the review of quality of education, creativity and innovation in education system in BiH, and analysis „Quality and expenses of education in BiH“ produced within the program for education of Open society fund BiH. This analysis includes those factors which, by number of researches, have the key influence on the quality of education: quality of teaching staff, conditions in schools, education expenditure.
